Hey there, I’m Jenn Gold! Most days you can find me in the water surfing and shooting pics or you can find me in the garage working on some wood projects.
I am mostly known for my motion blur and long exposure aesthetic; I really try to capture movement in my photos and pump up the funk factor when I’m editing.
People often refer to me as the Jack(ie) of all trades. My father’s cancer diagnosis in 2020 took me out of DC and brought me back home to NC where I learned photography, woodworking, and frame building.
I photograph waves, surfers and the beach town I live in. I try to serve people who are looking for fresh art for their walls or coastal inspired gifts for friends and family. I am super lucky to be able to connect with people over my artwork and my wood working. Seriously, there’s no greater joy than sharing a piece with someone and having them feel the same stoke I do when it’s complete.
When I’m not busy working on my craft, you can catch me surfing, hanging with my dog Otto or working on school work.
If you’re dying to hear more, here are five things you might not know about me:
I’m an Army veteran and I come from a military family; my dad was a Marine and my sister was in the Air Force. My dad’s dad was a Marine as well and my mom’s dad was a pilot in the Air Force.
Prior to COVID I was a pediatric RN in D.C., I worked on a surgical/burn floor. Prior to that I worked in a step down ICU in Florida. I enjoyed the profession and sometimes contemplate going back to it, but if I did it would probably be in the hospice field.
I’m currently in a program to obtain my cancer registry certification. My goal is to work with the VA as a cancer registrar and assist their cancer committees on data collection and analysis on cancer treatment programs.
Prior to being a nurse I was a humanitarian in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a beautiful country, its mountains will take your breath away. And the people are incredible. The warmth and hospitality of Middle Eastern culture is unmatched.
I recently adopted a pittie from a local shelter. I named him Otto and he’s currently my shadow. It’s my goal to train him to be a therapy dog so I can take him to visit hospitals; specifically VA hospitals, hospice facilities and cancer centers. He adores people and is very affectionate, I think he’d be a really good therapy dog.
